EASTBAY.com - One Stop Athletic Shopping by Sunny Marshall

If your family is anything like mine, it’s not uncommon to have one kid in soccer, another kid in basketball, and baseball season looming just around the corner. I have spent countless hours driving around town to find soccer cleats, baseball gloves and athletic clothing for my kids, and that’s not even mentioning all the shopping I’ve done for my husband’s sporting activities or my own running. You can imagine how excited I was when I discovered Eastbay.com.  All the stuff I needed for my family in one place online, available when it is convenient for ME to shop, not based on brick and mortar store hours.

Eastbay.com has every name brand athletic gear you can imagine, like Nike, Adidas, Asics and Reebok.  Not only do they have shoes, which seem to be the item I purchase the most, but they also have athletic gear, everything from baseball gloves and bats to basketballs and helmets.

There is a WIDE variety of clothing for men, women and children and tons of name brands, too. Boardshorts, Polo shirts, running clothes, Nike Pro, track jackets, hoody’s and lots more.  They even offer college tees with the school name or mascot emblem at an incredibly low price: two shirts for $19.99. I know when I’ve gone to the local college store to buy tees I’ve spent over $20 just for one!

The site is super easy to use. You can search by sport or by category and find whatever you need very quickly.  I even bought my daughter’s birthday present from Eastbay: a Reebok Cheerleader Gift set that included a cheerleader outfit, pom-poms, a megaphone and stickers all for under $20.

So trust me, save yourself the gas money and the time and visit Eastbay.com to shop for your family’s athletic gear.  Who doesn’t want to make their life a little easier?

Small feet (kids size shoes for adults)- custom made shoes?

I’m 27 from Australia. Is there anywhere in NSW, Australia where I can get shoes custom made to suit my needs so they don’t look like kids shoes (my size is between a 1-3 depending on the make of the shoe). Can I order them over the internet? I hate shopping in the kids department and finding nothing
I need Australian websites not American. I live in Australia

Would you buy used shoes for your kids at a children’s consignment store or thrift store?

What are your standards when it comes to used shoes for your kids. Would you buy and if yes how much would you consider paying:

Snow boots:
Sneakers:
Dress Shoes:
Ballet Slippers:
Tap Shoes:
Soccer Cleats:
Other:

Snow boots I would buy used…I actually just tryed to but couldn’t find any on craigslist or at the thrift store…We don’t live near the snow and are only planning one quick weekend trip…So I was bummed to have paid what I paid seeing as how they are going to wear them maybe twice…

Sneakers, dress shoes and tap/ballet slippers, you can get pretty cheap at places like Payless and Target, but if I was really broke nothing is beneath me. If you kids need them and you don’t have the cash what are you goning to do?

We got hand me down cleats from the older kids in the neighborhood, most are only worn 1 season as they are quickly outgrown…So those I get for free!!! We also got a few pairs of Girls dress shoes free from hand-me-downs from the older kids in the neighborhood…I got 2 or 3 pairs…Between the cleats and the girls dress shoes I saved probably $30 or more!!!

I try not to pay more than $20 MAX for shoes for my kids as they wear out so fast or are outgrown. It seems foolish to waste money on things like shoes.

My last pari of shoes were Adidas cross trianers I think I paid around $50 or 60…but I wore them for almost 3-4 years beofre they wore out…I just bought a new pair of Saucany for $60, and hope they last as long as the others.

Are Stride Rite shoes worth the money? Are they better for kids than other shoes?

She wants to walk when we’re out shopping, etc., so I want to have shoes on her. Thanks for any input!
My stepsister said that toddlers need these shoes. Is there any truth to that?
What is important when buying shoes for a newly walking young toddler?

I don’t know if my son really needs them, but they are the only shoes that are wide enough for his feet. I’ve tried buying him shoes at Wal-Mart and places like that, but they just don’t fit him right. So for us, Stride Rite is worth the money, but maybe not for everybody.

Do your kids wear shoes in the house?

We have some friends that where adults wear shoes in the house but kids have to take them off.Its not something I am keen on, I think everyone should be treated the same and either all take off their shoes or all leave them on. Do your kids wear shoes in the house?

No one wears shoes in our house - adults, kids, or guests. It just makes the house dirtier so much faster to wear shoes inside, imho.
Perhaps your friend feels the kids are tracking in mud or something?

What are the health problems caused by kids not having proper clothing and no shoes?

Like in south america where many kids dont have clothes or shoes, what can happen, health wise?

The health problems are many, because these children are also in contact with poisonous spiders such as the pink toed Tarantula and the black widow.there are also poisonous reptiles or deadly reptiles such as the salt water crocodile, the poison dart frog, anaconda, cobras. the diseases are ammonia, starvation, abuse, etc. Also they can come in contact with Spider monkeys,Chimpanzees,Gorillas,or Baboons they will get eaten or attacked or killed. On animal planet there was a girl with Down Symdrone that was bitten very badly by a spider monkey that escaped from it’s cage at a zoo in Guatemala, and Gorillas have been know to kill and mate with humans same with Chimpanzees.

Are Target shoes bad for my kids’ feet?

I will buy clothes from thrift stores, Wal-Mart, whatever, but I always said I wouldn’t scrimp on well-made shoes for my kids. I have bunions from years of wearing cheap shoes, and I don’t want my kids to have such problems.

Lately, though, we are tightening our belt, and kids’ shoes are expensive. Target has really cute shoes for a great price. I have a pair of their women’s shoes, and they are perfectly comfy. Are their kids’ shoes well-made enough that they will not damage my kids’ feet?

I have 5 kids and get their shoes from Target and grew up getting my shoes from Target so I’d say it wouldn’t hurt their feet. Also, bunions are caused from shoes that doesn’t fit right…not "cheap" shoes.
